Creating art has always been a part of my life growing up and I knew that it was something I wanted to pursue in the professional world in some way, but as a freshman I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. After taking lots of different introductory courses, from ceramics and sculpture, to photography and drawing, I found my place in the Design program. The first design course I took was Principles of Design with Professor Liese Zahabi in the Fall of my junior year and I quickly fell in love with the process of creating digital art and design. I especially enjoyed the flexibility of every project we did because Prof. Zahabi encouraged us to make work that we were excited and passionate about. I love the challenge that graphic design gives me and the countless opportunities to learn more about the different softwares and techniques.

My time as the fellowship student at the Visual Resource Center has also led me to many different avenues in pursuing my design work such as digital marketing and web design. I have gotten a taste of what it is like to produce client-based work and learned how to cater my designs to someone else’s vision, rather than my personal style.

I am so thankful for all of the amazing opportunities I have had during my time in the Art Department at UNH to explore the world of design.
